Please note the data error on page 44 of the main report.
Under KPIs for Service Coordination / Assessment (Provider: First Point- Metro).
The sentence should read 'Service is contracted to deliver 1213 assessments annually (2010/11); 1219 assessments were completed in 2010/11'.

Commissioners would like to apologise for this inaccuracy and would ask that any further queries / errors identified by readers be addressed through the consultation process and these will be noted and corrected in the final report.

Concerns raised by changes to LSL HIV services via email

Here, I am posting part of an email, from the person that sent me this information and it is thus their view.

"The main findings and proposals  of the report are:
Patients go to GP (or HIV Clinic if no GP) for Social care enquires. ie social support;groups;welfare;information; benefits
The report states there is no central point for this service at present and Patients don't know where to go for support and keep repeating their needs.
By removing HIV specific services (there are plans for other services to be stopped HIV Stigma will be reduced as patients will need to give out heir status more often to mainstream generic services.

Actual Position and likely outcome to planned changes
there is a central point. its called First Point for all LSL residents.  At St thomas its integrated into care pathway allowing excellent 'all in one viist' patient care.
GP's have 10mion appts and do not deal with HIV Health so will not know social and welfare support needs or service providers.
Patients will not access services for fear of stigma.

Costs and likely affect

The costs of GP's and Consultants time totally outweighs the cost saved by removing the current first point service, particularly at St Thomas. By removing the service which acts as a 'filter' by answering many patient questions within St Thomas and avoids external services becoming overlade with patients who do not require their specialist legal support. patients who do require specialist advice will be blocked/delayed by those who don't that could have been dealt with by First Point.

Loss of the following 'one stop' advice, information and referral:
the following 'central point' of information will be lost for all the following:

·       Social Groups
·       Benefits
·       Housing
·       Welfare
·       Immigration
·       Medical reports coordination
·       Money/Charity Payments
·       Debt
·       Voluntary Work
·       Life Coaching
·       Job Search
·       Dentists
·       Travel Insurance/ Country Restrictions
·       Life/Health Insurance
·       HIV @ Work
·       Complimentary Therapy
·       recreational drug misuse
·       domestic violence
·       Low cost furniture/Clothing
·       Young Persons Specialised Service"
