Newcastle City Council has commissioned a report into The Newcastle Fund, their grant scheme for the voluntary and community sector.

<

The evaluation will examine the administration of the fund to help the council improve its processes and communications for the next funding round and is being conducted by a local team, independent of the council.

Leading the evaluation, Peter Deans, said:

“This is a chance to influence how this important fund is administered in the future, so I would encourage anyone with an interest to contribute.  The Council seem genuinely keen to learn from the experience of the first round and improve the Fund, so it is essential that as many voluntary and community organisations as possible take part and share their experiences of the Fund, whether they made an application or not.  The main way to do this is to complete the online survey.

“We are also holding some focus group discussions and interviewing organisations about their experiences.  We want to gather the widest range of views, and will faithfully relay the views and suggestions that people make to the Council whilst maintaining people's anonymity and confidentiality."

The deadline for responses is 20 May 2011.
