The London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC) is asking voluntary and community organisations currently providing public health services to contribute to a mapping project that could create new delivery opportunities.
The On the Radar project is being funded by the Department of Health and NHS London and will produce a database of voluntary and community sector organisations delivering public health services in London and will be used by commissioners tendering new contracts.
The project will enable voluntary organisations to raise their profile and demonstrate their impact to a relevant audience of public health decision-makers, increasing opportunities for organisations to be commissioned in the future.
It is hoped that the project will also enable London’s public health commissioners to identify gaps in services and new development opportunities.
Peter Lewis, Chief Executive of LVSC, said:
“In such a volatile funding climate, where the public health sector is also being reorganised, it is important for charities and voluntary organisations to ensure commissioners know where they can find voluntary sector providers. This project does just that.
“This is a real opportunity for public health commissioners to find out more about the successful work that voluntary and community sector groups do to improve health and well-being. At a time when the health service is undergoing huge changes, On the Radar will promote the work of the sector and facilitate partnership working to deliver the best results for people living in the capital.”
The project will focus mainly on alcohol related services for the first month and may potentially roll out further at a later stage.
Interested organisations should contact research@lvsc.org.uk (opens in new window) to get involved in the project.
