INTRODUCTION

1      This memo gives guidance on the changes introduced by The Jobseeker’s Allowance (Employment, Skills and Enterprise Scheme) Regulations 2011 (JSA (ESE Scheme) Regs 2011) (SI 2011/917) which come into effect on 20.5.11¹.

2      The Employment, Skills and Enterprise Scheme (ESE scheme) means a scheme designed to assist a claimant to obtain employment or self employment and which may include for any individual, work-related activity including work experience or job search¹.

Note:  Initiatives to be introduced within the ESE scheme are Work Programme, Skills Conditionality, New Enterprise Allowance and Skills Academies.
