Covered in Director of Finance online, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are undertaking a major IT upgrade in July. This is to have one individual record for PAYE Tax & National Insurance (NI) contributions.  Currently these records are held over 12 regional office (your local tax office). This will allow HMRC to view and amend an individual PAYE record anywhere in the UK. In effect it removes the process whereby you would ask tax questions of an assigned office.

There will be some temporary effect on the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) but arrangements are in place to maintain payments for new and existing customers during this period.

You can find out more from the HMRC website - www.hmrc.gov.uk
