In the members area of the benefitsandwork.co.uk website, the following data is useful. Click here to access the story if you have the paid membership. This information follows a Freedom of Information Act request by the team at B&W.

Under the Right Payment Programme (RPP).

  • 12,000 checks a year on DLA under RPP
    • of the 12,000 - 3750 claims are selected at random
    • the remaining 8250 are now selected from specific groups
      • Arthritis
      • Spondylosis
      • Back Pain
      • Muscles, bones, joints
      • Heart disease
      • Chest disease
      • Strokes
      • Psychosis/psychoneurosis
  • "indefinite awards where there has been no check or change since 1992 are also being spot checked"

They report that from April to November 2008 of ALL claims, not just HIV, 86% were left unchanged, 10% had an increase 4% were reduced.

I hope they will not mind me publishing this information.

The benefitsandwork.co.uk website is a good resource in my view, I have used it often. If you join up it costs £18.55 per year at time of writing you also get access to there guides on the various benefits.
