Hi.

I have a 7 and a half year old son who has been with a SENCO teacher at his school for over a year now. In this year his progress has been very slow (learning only 1 word a week) he can not not write, spell or read very well for a child of his age. His SENCO teacher told me that my son has special needs. Then this April he had an assessment done on him and the results came back that my son is dyslexic and also has dyspraxia.

Can I claim DLA for him?

Many thanks for your help!!

You might want to check out http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/start/who-qualifies/children/disabled-child.htm< if you are receiving qualifying benefits, also http://www.cafamily.org.uk/advice-and-support/sen-national-advice-service/<

http://www.disability-grants.org/< or http://special-needs-kids.co.uk/financial.htm< and http://www.turn2us.org.uk/< may provide additional information on grants to support your needs, also requesting a community care assessment from your local authority should help also address the needs of your son.
