Are you getting enough support? (This topic is posted in the section for Wales) as it related to the Welsh Economy)
The Welsh Assembly Government has accepted the Enterprise and Learning Committee’s recommendations that more support is needed for the social enterprise sector in Wales.
The recommendations were detailed last November in the Committee's (which scrutinises government) report, The Role of Social Enterprises in the Welsh Economy.
In a live debate at the National Assembly last week to debate responses to the report, the chair of the Committee, Gareth Jones AM, said he was pleased the recommendations had been accepted.
The recommendations were that:
- “access to more general business advice for social enterprises, and also skills development programmes for social entrepreneurs that would enable them to improve and expand their businesses” were needed.
- and, that “the Welsh Government has to create the right conditions for growth, such as ensuring fair and appropriate procurement arrangements and the provision of tailored financial and other business and skills support. Most importantly, the packages of support available to social enterprises must reflect the diversity of the sector”.
Do Welsh social enterprises feel that there is enough appropriate business support out there? Are the conditions right to grow your enterprise? Let us know how you see things in your area through our short survey, here. We’re keen to hear your views.
