128 per cent increase in ESA appeals for first quarter of 2010/2011
New Tribunals Service statistics also show that 57 per cent of all benefit appeals related to incapacity related benefits

There has been a 128 per cent increase in employment and support allowance (ESA) appeals for the first quarter of 2010/2011 compared to the first quarter of 2009/2010, according to new Tribunals Service statistics.
The 'Quarterly Statistics for the Tribunals Service, 1st quarter 2010-11' also show that in the first quarter of 2010/2010 57 per cent of social security and child support appeals received related to ESA or incapacity benefit, as compared to 40 per cent in the first quarter of 2009/2010.
