Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is the replacement for Disability Living Allowance for working age people. The upper age limit is the state retirement age that maybe subject to change.

Universal Credit is a radical new approach to welfare: • It will bring together different forms of income-related support and provide a simple, integrated, benefit for people in or out of work. • It will consist of a basic personal amount (similar to the current Jobseeker’s Allowance) with additional amounts for disability, caring responsibilities, housing costs and children. • As earnings rise, we expect Universal Credit will be withdrawn at a constant rate of around 65 pence for each pound of net earnings. Higher earnings disregards will also reinforce work incentives for selected groups. When introduced, Universal Credit will initially apply to new claims. It will be phased in for existing benefit and Tax Credit recipients. There will be no cash losers at the point of change, ensuring that no one will see their benefits reduced when Universal Credit is introduced.

You may find decisions that, may broadly apply to your situation and if you are making an appeal you may find it useful to site them. We would always advise you get professional support when making an appeal. There are time limits for making an appeal. The yearly "independent" reviews of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) are an important measure of the issues raised by campaigners including Tcell and the progress made. For ease of reference we have decided to give this subject its own space to allow users to see the process over time. Although we avoid direct involvement in the campaigning and lobby with regard to HIV and how it is medically treated. There is significant change to the way care is going to be delivered to those living with HIV and other related illnesses. Simply put, your General Practitioner (GP) will be taking on more of the day-to-day care of your health. As the funding changes within the NHS, the role of your consultant and GP is changing. The GP now holds the funds for referrals to other specialities and medications that are not within your HIV Centres drug budget any longer as they are no longer funded. Anti-retroviral therapy and some medications of course will come from your HIV Centre via your consultant but more and more you will be encouraged to see your GP in future for other non-HIV medical issues. So this Forum is to share information and feel free to post your experience.

Here we wanted to encourage you to leave information on purely social events that HIV people can engage with. We are looking for you to feed back on your personal recommendations of places you have been to socialise, bars, clubs and events. Living with HIV can be quite isolating especially if you are newly diagnosed. You may want to socialise but lack confidence, want to feel safe and want to feel you are in a HIV friendly environment. Although we cannot be held liable for any recommendation. We do believe that those with HIV and have the information through first hand experience is the best form of recommendation. This is not a forum for "advertising" your business nor will we publish content that may be libellous. If you have had a bad experience following a recommendation here, email to john@tcell.org.uk stating why and I will remove it.
